Probiotic chewing gum counteracts bleeding gums
Posted 3 years ago by Soraya in General Health News
A study by Professor Twetman at the University of Copenhagen found that a probiotic chewing gum containing a strain of Lactobacillus Reuteri reduced gingivitis, or inflamed gums. Of 42 participants with moderate gingivitis, subjects given the chewing gum with the probiotics experienced a reduction of 85% in the amount of bleeding sites, and a reduction of 43% - 53% in the amount of fluid in the teeth pockets.
