OptiBac sponsors "A Boy with Asperger's" Blog

The OptiBac Probiotics team are delighted to be sponsoring blogger Claire Louise, a finalist in this year's Mad Blog Awards. Claire is no ordinary mummy blogger - she has three children, one of whom has Asperger's syndrome, and Claire writes about day to day life with her three children, all whilst striving to raise awareness of autism spectrum conditions. Claire's blog, "A Boy with Asperger's" has been nominated not only for 'Most Inspiring Blogger', but also as a finalist for the 'Mad Blogger of the year'. And before you get too confused, the MAD blog awards stand for Mum And Dad blogs; celebrating the best of British parenting blogs.
We are very excited about this partnership. Although it may at first seem like a random link, many people report that children with autism experience particularly difficult digestive health conditions and irregular bowels. Children with autism have been shown to have higher levels of certain pathogens in the gut¹, suggesting an imbalance of good & bad bacteria in the intestines. Probiotics may support gut health in those on the autistic spectrum, and preliminary studies have even suggested a link between probiotic consumption and behavioural changes in children with autism². We've started Claire and her 3 children on the probiotics, with her 'Little man' starting our EXTRA Strength probiotic, and we can't wait to hear her feedback. What's more, it looks like the feelings are mutual (phew!) Claire said 'OptiBac are an independent family-run business with a passion for probiotics... I am both incredibly excited and delighted to be working with them!' What a yummy mummy.
The Mad Blog awards will take place on the 30th September 2011; unfortunately its too late to cast your vote, but we've got our fingers and toes crossed for Claire!
