'bifidum' is a probiotic species belonging to the Bifidobacteria family. Bifidobacterium bifidum will naturally reside in the large intestine. The strain of bifidum that we use at OptiBac Probiotics is called Bifidobacterium bifidum Rosell-71. This probiotic strain is ß-galactosidase positive (ß-galactosidase is an enzyme required for the digestion of lactose.) It is particularly resistant to gastric acidity at a pH over 4, which is why it is recommended to take it at mealtimes.
