Candida albicans (C. Albicans)
|
Candida albicans (often simply referred to as Candida) is a yeast-like fungus which is normally found in the flora of the mouth, skin, intestinal tract and vagina. Many people have small amounts of Candida albicans in the body without experiencing any side effects or symptoms. When allowed to overgrow however, Candida albicans can cause inflammation and itching, leading to infections such as thrush.
