Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth
|
Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), also known as Small Bowel Bacterial Overgrowth SBBO), refers to a condition in which abnormal amounts of pathogenic bacteria are present in the small intestine. It is generally caused by lack of with muscular activity in and around the small intestine, meaning that bacteria is not swept away into the colon as it should be. Symptoms of SIBO include bloating, vomiting and diarrhoea. SIBO is associated with various digestive or even muscular conditions, including diverticulosis.
