Your Health
At OptiBac Probiotics, your health comes first. The reason we make probiotic supplements in capsules or sachets as opposed to yoghurts is that we strongly believe this to be the most effective and healthy way for you to take your probiotics.
Due to the naturally unpalatable taste of good bacteria, many probiotic yoghurt drinks have extremely high doses of sugar which can be damaging to the health. Light versions of these drinks often contain artificial sweeteners such as aspartame, a chemical believed by many to have toxic effects on the human body.
All probiotics in the OptiBac family are free from added sugars, artificial sweeteners, and nasty additives.
Our robust probiotic strains endure rigorous tests to ensure their survival through the stomach acidity and biliary salts, as well as to ensure their ability to adhere to the epithelial cells in the gut wall lining. We consider these factors to be vital in a trustworthy probiotic.
Our probiotics are cultured on an organic dairy base; the livestock were reared without the routine use of antibiotics, with no use of growth hormones, and with no genetic modification. Furthermore, the prebiotic FOS that we use in many of our products is derived from organic chicory root. The natural plant extracts in For daily immunity (Grape Seed Extract, Green Tea Extract, and Pine Bark Extract) are also all of organic standard.
Last but not least, in terms of your health, we appreciate that different people take probiotics for different reasons. So if you are looking for probiotic support For bowel calm and your partner is looking for probiotics For a flat stomach, we offer each of you a condition-specific combination of probiotic strains.
Environment
At OptiBac Probiotics we strive to use the minimum amount of packaging possible. When rebranding from DTECTA Probiotics we discontinued our use of the outer trays that covered our products, replacing them for a much smaller paper sleeve. In April of last year we increased the potency and reduced the number of capsules in For travelling abroad, allowing us to reduce the number of blister packs per product by 30%. In less than nine months this saved the production of over 5,000 blister packs – enough to cover an area of 2.5km2 !
We make a concerted effort to avoid unnecessary layers in our packaging. The powdered products, For a flat stomach and For your child’s health come in separate sachets for each day’s use in the interest of guaranteeing the viability of the bacteria, which we consider a key factor in the quality of these products.
For daily wellbeing and For daily immunity come in bottles that are specifically manufactured for pharmaceutical and healthcare use, and they pass all of our quality standards including being recyclable and having a very low Moisture Vapour Transmission Rate (MVTR).
Not only do we consider the environment in our outwardly visible efforts, but the environment is always on our minds in the heart of the OptiBac head office. Here one member of staff, also known as “the Eco Dragon”, exerts her fiery temper against any employee who fails to reuse and recycle their paper, turn off unused lights and computers, or who boils more water than they need for the morning round of tea. It is hence a challenge to work for OptiBac Probiotics and not always have the environment in mind!
Corporate & Social responsibility
At OptiBac we understand and appreciate the responsibility of a company to fully disclose all of the ingredients used in each product. We have a policy of absolute transparency when it comes to informing retailers and consumers what ingredients make up each product, so that each customer can make an informed decision according to their personal needs. To access detailed information on the nature of our products, please see the relevant product page, the FAQs, or Contact Us.
We care about the wellbeing, comfort and happiness of our diverse personnel. Daily meetings at the Head Office ensure that communication is rife between all levels of the OptiBac community, constantly reminding employees of our mission and ethos, as well as engaging all staff in ethically responsible thinking.
We also strive to look after and respect our surrounding community. Wren Laboratories gives annual donations to the Association for Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus (ASBAH), the UK's leading registered charity providing information and advice about spina bifida and hydrocephalus. Amongst other work ASBAH provides support to families, a dedicated helpline, information days, and medical information. Find out more about ASBAH.
And finally, one of our core values is to deliver value to you. As the probiotics industry is still relatively young, many probiotics in the market are high in cost. As a young, UK-based company we do all that we can to minimise costs and to keep our products at a fair price, without compromising the quality of the probiotics.
