OptiBac in Depth
Are your capsules enteric coated?
Some people believe that enteric coated capsules are best because they are more able to survive the stomach acidity – a key factor in finding a good probiotic. The OptiBac Probiotics capsules are not enteric coated, as the strains themselves pass through many clinical trials to ensure their survival until reaching the intestines where they are able to colonise and multiply. Solvents such as alcohol, as well as heat for drying, are often used in the production of enteric coating; both of these factors decrease the viability of the bacteria. Furthermore some people find that enteric-coated capsules are in fact too strong, and never even dissolve and break down in the body! For these reasons we concentrate on the vigour of our probiotic strains rather than that of the capsule.
