OptiBac Probiotics

Why is there maltodextrin in some of the OptiBac Probiotics range?

We use small amounts of maltodextrin in some of the products, as a stabilising excipient (keeping the probiotic & prebiotic powder a bit thicker & firmer within the capsule or sachet.)

Maltodextrin does not interfere with, nor harm the probiotics cultures. Whilst it generally falls under the category of a carbohydrate, maltodextrin is easier to digest than most carbohydrates as it is derived from a natural source. Any maltodextrin in our probiotics comes from either potatoes or corn, and is therefore GMO-free and suitable for coeliacs or those intolerant to gluten.
