Proud to be a Living Wage Accredited Company!
We were over the moon to find out that we are now fully fledged members of the Living Wage Foundation. The Foundation is committed to the idea that 'a hard day's work deserves a fair day's pay'. And so are we!
What does this mean?
As a minimum we pay the real living wage to all our staff. This is the only wage based on what people need to live and this varies according to where they choose to live. In doing so we exceed the statutory requirement and we do this voluntarily.
What does this mean for our staff?
We hope this means they feel valued. There are lots of ways businesses can show that they care about the well-being of their staff and paying them fairly is a great place to start! In turn we believe this will mean our wonderful and talented colleagues will stick around for longer.
What people are saying!
'I'm super proud to work for a business that has been recognised in this way. It reinforces what I already know about OptiBac as an employer. People deserve to be paid fairly and to live comfortably and it's vital for companies to take a stand on this issue.' Zoe
'We are fully committed to being a good employer and to supporting our staff to be the best that they can be, inside & outside of work. We hope that this goes some way to recognising all their incredible work. As well as making good business sense, it's also the right thing to do' Soraya, Co-founder
The Living Wage Foundation is an independent movement of businesses and organisations which believe that the current minimum and national living wage is simply not enough. Unlike the government’s ‘National Living Wage’ calculation, the ‘Living Wage Foundation’ takes into account the cost of living, and this is reflected in its wage rate calculations and recommendations. The foundation also recognises that living in London is more expensive than in other parts of the country, and has weighted its recommendation accordingly.
It’s completely voluntary for businesses to sign up to the ‘Living Wage Foundation’ and to pay employees at this wage rate, but we believe that paying a real living wage is an important ethical choice for businesses who can afford to, and we’re proud to be a part of this initiative.
